Official rules

Draft. Have these rules reviewed by a Nigerian lawyer and cleared with the FCCPC or the relevant state authority before offering prizes.

Free to enter

No purchase or payment of any kind is needed to enter or to win. Paying for any optional feature on FreeGoldPips never gives you extra entries or a better chance of winning.

Who can play

You must be 18 or older and live in Nigeria. One account per person. Employees of FreeGoldPips and of a round’s sponsor cannot win that sponsor’s prizes. We may ask winners to confirm their identity before a prize is delivered.

How a round works

A new round starts every 15 minutes. For the first 5 minutes you may submit one prediction of the gold price (XAU/USD, US dollars per troy ounce) at the round’s result time. Entries close after 5 minutes. The time of every entry is recorded by our server’s clock, and entries after the closing time are rejected. A prediction cannot be changed once it is locked in.

How the winner is decided

At the result time we read the gold price from our price provider and publish the price, the provider and the exact time it was read. The prediction closest to that price wins. If two or more predictions are equally close, the one locked in first wins.

Void rounds

If we cannot get a price within 3 minutes of the result time, or if a technical fault affects the round, the round is void and no prize is awarded for it. Void rounds are shown on the results page with the reason.

Bonus entries from invitations

When a friend you invited creates an account and plays one round, you receive one bonus entry. You may use at most one bonus entry per round, after your free entry. Accounts created to collect bonus entries, including multiple accounts by one person, will be removed along with any prizes they won. Bonus entries do not count toward the weekly accuracy leaderboard.

Fairness and verification

Other players’ predictions are hidden until entries close. When entries close we publish a SHA-256 fingerprint of all entries in the round. After the round you can see every entry and check that the fingerprint matches.

Prizes

Prizes are provided by the sponsor named on each round. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged, except at the sponsor’s choice for something of equal or greater value. Winners will be contacted at the email address on their account and must respond within 7 days.

Your data

We store your display name, email, a hashed password and a one-way fingerprint of your network address used to stop duplicate accounts. Your display name and predictions appear publicly on results pages after a round closes. We do not sell your data.

Not financial advice

This is a game. Nothing on FreeGoldPips is investment advice or an offer to trade gold or any other asset.
